They say grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup are a match made in heaven, but try pairing the soup with these heavenly cheese rolls! They’re crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor. And you can make them ahead and freeze them, until you’re ready to fry and enjoy them.
To make these Crispy Cheese Rolls you’ll need:
🫔 A pack of Spring Roll or Egg Roll Sheets, or Wonton Wrappers
🫔 Oil for frying
🫔 2 Tbsps Flour mixed with 2 Tbsps Water for sealing the rolls
🫔 Cheese Mix Stuffing:
🧀 1.5 Cup Shredded String Cheese
🧀 1.5 Cup Shredded Mozzarella
🧀 3 tablespoons Cream Cheese
🧀 1/2 Cup Chopped Parsley
🧀 Optional – Black Sesame Seeds
🫔 Place the shredded mozzarella, string cheese, cream cheese in a medium bowl. Add the black sesame seeds and chopped parsley and mix by hand until all is well combined.
🫔 In a small bowl, whisk the flour and water. This will be the “glue” we use to seal the rolls.
🫔 Assemble the rolls, by placing some of the cheese filling mix on the spring roll sheets or wonton wrappers. Spread the filling evenly on the sheets, then brush the far corner and sides with the flour glue. Fold corners to form an envelope shape, then roll tightly.
🫔 Fry in hot oil then set aside on a wire rack for 5 minutes before serving them.
🫔 If you are going to freeze the rolls for later, make sure you arrange them in a single layer on a tray lined with parchment paper; and once they are completely frozen, you can transfer them to a Ziploc back so they do not stick together.
