You can take me out of Alexandria, but you’ll never be able to take Alexandria out of me!! 🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬
This girl 🙋♀️ grew up eating fresh seafood straight from the sea, never frozen and never out of a can or a jar. My mom made an amazing variety of seafood dishes; and if you came to visit my family on Easter, you’ll experience first hand how loved and appreciated this finger-licking delicious smoked herring dip is.
🛳⚓️ Smoked Herring Dip ⚓️🛳
🏖 1.25 pounds (1/2 kilo) smoked herring fillets, cut in medium size pieces
⛵️ 3 sliced scallions – white part only
🏖 1/2 cup tahini
⛵️ 1/3 cup plain yogurt
🏖 1/3 cup mayonnaise
⛵️ Juice of 1 big lemon – about 1/8 cup
🏖 1/8 cup apple or pomegranate vinegar
⛵️ 1/8 cup olive oil
🏖 1/4 cup cold water
⛵️ 2 cut up cooked beets
🏖 3/4 cup chopped red pepper
⛵️4 ice cubes
🏖 3 tablespoons sour cream
Put the scallions, tahini, yogurt, mayonnaise, water, oil, vinegar and lemon juice in the food processor’s bowl and mix until well combined.
Add the beets, red pepper, herring and ice cubes and mix, first on low speed, then on high speed until everything is puréed and well blended. Make sure you scrape the sides of the bowl to get all the pieces in.
Taste the dip and if you like it less salty add some sour cream to taste. I added 3 tablespoons.
And Voila!! Bon Appétit 🥰❤️
