You will need: 2/3 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, three eggs, 2/3 cup of brown sugar, 2/3 cup of applesauce, one cup of apple cider, 2/3 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 3/4 cup of butter, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 3/4 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
- To the mixers bowl add softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar
- Beat on high speed until creamy, light, and fluffy
- Next add the eggs, one at a time and vanilla
- In a separate bowl combine the applesauce and apple cider
- Mix them together and set aside
- Now mix all the dry ingredients
- To the flour, add the baking powder, salt, and baking soda
- Add cinnamon, nunmet, and ginger
- Mix all dry ingredients until well combined
- Alternative to adding the dry ingredients and apple cider mixture to the butter mixture in three additions, starting and ending with the dry ingredients
- When the batter is ready transfer it into greased pans
- Now it is ready to go in the oven
- Bake on 350°F for about 50 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean
- Allow the cake to cool for 15 to 20 minutes before turning it out of the pan onto a cooling rack
- Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and mix 1/4 cup of sugar with 2 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- Brush warm cake with melted butter
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top
