French Onion Soup

You will need: Worcestershire sauce, butter, olive oil, a French baguette, beef broth, Gruyére or fontina cheese, fresh thyme, three garlic cloves, six large onions

Instructions:

  • Heat some olive oil in a soup pot
  • Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the pot
  • Add sliced onions
  • Add 2 teaspoons of salt
  • Add 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Mix them all together
  • Reduce heat to medium low and cover the pot to allow the onion to release it’s juices
  • Stir every five minutes until the onion has reached a light golden color
  • Add minced garlic and thyme
  • Mix together
  • Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • Add 2 tablespoons of flour and mix
  • Add the beef broth and give it a mix
  • Mix and bring to a boil, adjust salt and pepper to your taste
  • Wow the soup is cooking drizzle bread slices with olive oil and toast them
  • Toast on medium
  • Ladle the soup into oven safe bowls
  • Place the toasted bread slices on top of the soup
  • Lastly, add the shredded cheese on top
  • Put into the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly
  • Enjoy!
