You will need: Worcestershire sauce, butter, olive oil, a French baguette, beef broth, Gruyére or fontina cheese, fresh thyme, three garlic cloves, six large onions
Instructions:
- Heat some olive oil in a soup pot
- Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the pot
- Add sliced onions
- Add 2 teaspoons of salt
- Add 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Mix them all together
- Reduce heat to medium low and cover the pot to allow the onion to release it’s juices
- Stir every five minutes until the onion has reached a light golden color
- Add minced garlic and thyme
- Mix together
- Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- Add 2 tablespoons of flour and mix
- Add the beef broth and give it a mix
- Mix and bring to a boil, adjust salt and pepper to your taste
- Wow the soup is cooking drizzle bread slices with olive oil and toast them
- Toast on medium
- Ladle the soup into oven safe bowls
- Place the toasted bread slices on top of the soup
- Lastly, add the shredded cheese on top
- Put into the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly
- Enjoy!
