Apple Crisp

Nothing says โ€œFallโ€ like a bowl of warm homemade apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

Ingredients:

For the Filling:
๐ŸŽ 4 lbs (13- 15) medium firm apples
๐Ÿ 2 tablespoons lemon juice
๐ŸŽ 1/2 cup granulated sugar
๐Ÿ 1/4 cup brown sugar
๐ŸŽ 3 tablespoons flour
๐Ÿ 1 teaspoon cinnamon 
๐ŸŽ 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
๐Ÿ 1/4 teaspoon salt
๐ŸŽ 4 tablespoons melted butter

For the Crumb Topping:
๐Ÿฅฎ 1 cup flour
๐Ÿฅฎ 1 cup rolled oats
๐Ÿฅฎ 1/2 cup brown sugar
๐Ÿฅฎ 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 
๐Ÿฅฎ 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
๐Ÿฅฎ 1/4 teaspoon salt
๐Ÿฅฎ 12 tablespoons softened butter

First prepare the filling:
๐Ÿ In a bowl, mix granulated and brown sugar together with the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Exact measurements are written in the previous post.
๐ŸŽ Peel, core, slice and dice apples into medium size cubes. Toss them with the lemon juice, then coat them with the previous mixture.
๐Ÿ Pour melted butter on top and toss to coat. Transfer apples into generously buttered baking dishes or ramekins, cover with foil and bake on 350F for half an hour.

While the apples are in the oven, prepare the crumb topping:
๐ŸŽ In a medium bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
๐Ÿ Using your hands, and the room temperature butter and work it into the mixture until pea-sized crumbs form throughout.

๐Ÿฅฎ Spread topping over apples and bake, uncovered, on 375F for 35-40 minutes; or until topping is golden and apple filling is bubbling at the edges.
Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream a drizzle of caramel sauce ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฏ
