Rice Pudding

One of the world’s most popular desserts; made with just three main ingredients and can be easily adapted to your individual taste preferences. It’s loved by many many many generations and celebrated on August 9th. It’s RICE PUDDING! 

August 9th is National Rice Pudding Day! So technically this post is 15 days overdue 😂

To make it you’ll need:
🍚 1/2 cup rice
💦 2 cups water
🥛 6 cups milk
🍥 3/4 cup sugar
🥥 Your favorite flavoring add-ons. I used regular Mesteka pieces, Greek Mesteka Paste, powder whipped cream mix, and Ziyad brand powder Vanilla.
🌰 Your favorite toppings: cinnamon, raisins, nuts, coconut, or whatever your ❤️ pleases.

♨️ In a large saucepan, add rice and room temperature water and cook uncovered, on medium-high heat, until it reaches a rolling boil. Add a few pieces of regular Mesteka (optional), cover the pan, bring heat down to medium-low and simmer until rice has cooked and absorbed most of the water.
♨️ Add 6 cups room temperature milk, 3/4 cup sugar and stir constantly until sugar has dissolved.
♨️ When milk gets hot and starts to bubble, add 1/2 packet of powder whipped cream mix (optional), 1 tablespoon Mesteka Paste (optional) and 1 teaspoon vanilla and continue stirring.
♨️ Let the rice pudding simmer for 45 minutes on low heat, stirring frequently to ensure that the rice doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan and burn.
♨️ When thickened to pudding consistency, take off the heat and pour into your serving bowls. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
♨️ Enjoy it plain or add your favorite toppings or ice cream.
