French Bread

🇫🇷Easy 🇫🇷and🇫🇷 Delicious🇫🇷The house smells heavenly!♨️🥖

You will need:
Dough: 1 tablespoon active dry yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 cup lukewarm water, 3 cups flour, 2 teaspoons salt, 1/4 cup olive oil
Egg Wash: 1 egg, 2 tablespoons water
Topping: Coarse Semolina

Let’s get started:

🥖In your stand-mixer’s bowl, stir active dry yeast and sugar in lukewarm water, cover the bowl and set it aside for 10 minutes.
🥖Once the yeast is activated, add the rest of the ingredients: flour, salt and olive oil.
🥖Mix on low speed until wet and dry ingredients are well incorporated.
🥖Increase the speed to medium and knead the dough for 10 minutes, then transfer it to an oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel and set aside in a warm spot for an hour.
🥖After one hour, the dough should be doubled in size. Punch it down with your hand to deflate it and let it rest for 15 minutes.
🥖Shape the dough into a ball, transfer it to a lightly floured surface and divide it in two. Shape each half into a log, score the top with a knife, cover and let them rest for 20 more minutes.
🥖Brush the logs with egg wash (egg + water) and sprinkle with some coarse semolina
🥖Bake in a 365F preheated oven for about half an hour, or until the bread is golden in color.
